WLED Lamp and 16×16 LED Matrix

Two light builds I designed in SolidWorks and printed on my 3D printer, controlled from my phone over Wi-Fi.

WLED Lamp

  • SolidWorks
  • 3D Printing
  • ESP8266
  • WLED

A cylindrical lamp I designed and printed, with colour effects I can control from my phone over Wi-Fi.

What I built. A circular, cylindrical lamp with a base. A 24-LED addressable ARGB ring is controlled by an ESP8266 running WLED. The whole enclosure is my own design in SolidWorks, printed on my 3D printer.

Power and safety. WLED current limits are configured. The LEDs are powered directly from a USB-C supply and not through the microcontroller's power pins, because they draw much more current than the board can supply.

16×16 LED Matrix

  • SolidWorks
  • 3D Printing
  • ESP32
  • WLED
  • Klipper
  • Orca Slicer

A 256-pixel glowing display that shows animations and patterns, controlled over Wi-Fi.

What I built. A 16×16 addressable ARGB LED matrix (an off-the-shelf LED panel, 256 LEDs) driven by an ESP32 flashed with stock WLED firmware. I configured WLED with power limits, and the LEDs are powered directly from USB-C, not through the ESP's power pins.

My design work. I designed a multi-part enclosure in SolidWorks: frame, body, diffuser and grid. It is printed on a single-colour printer with Klipper firmware and Orca Slicer, and I paused mid-print to swap filaments to get multi-colour parts.
